Referee Requirements

Thank you for signing up to work our 2025 Top Court events!

3Step Sports, LLC is an independent organization that provides its own insurance and has its own requirements for officials working events.

To get started, select whether you a referee with a Membership Organization (USAV, AAU, JVA) or are a Non-Member Official.

NOTE: USE ONE EMAIL ADDRESS FOR ALL ACCOUNTS/SUBMISSIONS. Your email address ties your accounts together on different platforms and will ensure your information matches up.

Membership Organization Official Requirements

For AAU, JVA, and USAV members

3Step Sports, LLC will accept a current background screening in replacement of our own.

  1. Apply for an account in Vensure, our new payment system!
    *You only need one Vensure account for all 3 Step brands. If you already have an account, let us know.
    **USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS AS YOUR PLAYERS’ HEALTH ACCOUNT, if you already have one. If not, you will create that in a later step.

    1. Choose “Any Work Roster” at the top of the page.
    2. Enter your contact information, personal information and pay information.
    3. Click “Submit”
      1. After you submit your “application” you will receive a notification when you have been added to our program.
    4. You will receive a Welcome email to complete the 3 Step Sports Payee Portal registration. Click the “Registration Link” to complete your onboarding process in Vensure.
      1. Confirm your personal and pay information is accurate.
      2. Complete the W-9 & Independent Contractor Agreement Form.
        1. If you are an international referee, you will be prompted to complete a W-8.
  2. Complete your process of membership, background screenings, and other requirements with your chosen organization.
  3. Screenshot your background screening and, if a USAV member, SafeSport certification (the dates MUST be visible) and save them to your computer.
    1. Please note: SafeSport is the only acceptable replacement for the 3Step Abuse Prevention Training. Concussion certifications from other organizations are NOT accepted.
  4. Complete your Abuse Prevention and Concussion Trainings through Players’ Health (use the same email address as your Vensure account):

  5. Upload all requirements to the Referee Requirement Submission Form.
  6. Your Vensure profile will be updated with your completion of the Abuse Prevention Training and Concussion trainings through Players’ Health, and it will be updated to reflect a current background screening on file.

ALL of these requirements must be completed before you may work for or be paid by 3Step Sports and Top Court Events.

Non-Membership Organization Official Requirements

For any referee not affiliated with a governing body

3Step Sports, LLC will accept a current background screening in replacement of our own:

  1. Apply for an account in Vensure, our new payment system!
    *You only need one Vensure account for all 3 Step brands. If you already have an account, let us know.
    **USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS AS YOUR PLAYERS’ HEALTH ACCOUNT, if you already have one. If not, you will create that in a later step.

    1. Choose “Any Work Roster” at the top of the page.
    2. Enter your contact information, personal information and pay information.
    3. Click “Submit”
      1. After you submit your “application” you will receive a notification when you have been added to our program.
    4. You will receive a welcome email to complete the 3 Step Sports Payee Portal registration. Click the “Registration Link” to complete your onboarding process in Vensure.
      1. Confirm your personal and pay information is accurate.
      2. Complete the W-9 & Independent Contractor Agreement Form.
        1. If you are an international referee, you will be prompted to complete a W-8.
    5. After completing your forms, you will be prompted to Login.
      1. Go to the “My Work Rosters” menu option.
      2. You will see a notification at the bottom of the page that says “IMPORTANT: you are assigned a role which requires a background check and Trainings from Players Health”.
        1. **If you do not see the notification on your Work Rosters page, you may use this link to the Background Check, Abuse Prevention Training, and Concussion Training
      3. Click on the “Click Here” button.This will open Players’ Health, where our background screening and abuse prevention training lives.
        1. If you have an account with Players Health from previous seasons, click on the “Already have an account? Click Here to Log in” button and login.
        2. If you are NEW to Players’ Health, create your account.
          1. USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS AS YOUR VENSURE ACCOUNT
        3. From here, you will be able to complete your required background screening application and training courses. Your Vensure account will be updated as you go!
    6. Screenshot Vensure or Players’ Health with your completed background screening and trainings and upload to the Referee Requirement Submission Form.

ALL of these requirements must be completed before you may work for or be paid by 3Step Sports and Top Court Events.
